Choosing The Correct Machine.

There are a wide variety of leaf blowers on the market and it can be a difficult decision to choose the right one.

If you are not built like superman or superwoman like me, you do not want something that weighs just short of an elephant.

There are also widely varying ranges of prices, features, and abilities as well as having to choose from simple battery-powered models or petrol-driven backpacks that look like they come from a star wars movie.

Which is Best, Petrol or Battery Powered?

Battery Powered.

Battery-powered leaf blowers have a noticeable advantage for a suburban yard because they are quieter than their petrol-engine equivalents.

They are also more pleasant to use because they don’t have engine exhaust. When you’re finished, you don’t smell like fuel. Additionally, rechargeable leaf blowers are easy to use and don’t require starting a gas engine.

However, they might need more than one battery for prolonged leaf-clearing sessions, and their air output might decrease as the battery’s charge decreases, preserving run time at the expense of leaf-moving power.

Petrol Powered.

Blowers powered by gas will last longer and can be promptly refueled. Additional leaf-moving power is required if your leaf cover is thicker, wetter, and mixed with more debris, such as twigs, conifer needles, and nuts.

Gas machines have an advantage in these situations because they have the power necessary to push wet leaves and rubbish farther and finish the job quicker. In a nutshell, gas or petrol-powered blowers are more powerful and will last longer.

Heavy or Light Duty

Both gas and electric backpack leaf blowers work best for ankle-deep leaves. You’ll need a professional-grade gas-engine backpack blower to remove any deeper leaves.

Choose a lightweight cordless choice if you only need one to sweep leaves or grass clippings from a driveway or sidewalk because you won’t need as much power to sweep on concrete.

Backpack or Handheld.

If you use a backpack blower it will be less tiring and you should be able to finish your task sooner. Not only will you be able to move larger piles of leaves and rubbish you will be able to set it aside if using a backpack blower to move anything in the way.

On the downside, backpacks are heavy, bulky, and generally more expensive than handheld models. If you think about the majority of tasks your blower will perform, it will steer you in the right direction for your purchase.

Wrap Up.

With “fall” on the doorstep make sure you are prepared for those falling leaves. The best tool to keep those leaves off your lawn is a lawn blower. So choose your blower and get those leaves off the lawn.
